The Top 10 Things To Do Onboard Oasis of the Seas

Parents can keep an eye on all the action while kids splash around and get soaked by the water park’s drench bucket. The ship also offers Adventure Ocean, Royal Caribbean’s award-winning youth program. Totally free for cruise guests, it offers childcare services for guests aged 3-11. Kids are broken into groups based on their age, then treated to an entire day’s worth of supervised activities like arts and crafts, science experiments, theatrical plays and more. One of things I love most about Oasis of the Seas is that it allows guests to fill every single moment with unique things to do both indoors and outdoors, morning, noon and night. This is convenient on days that are especially warm (or chilly, depending on where your itinerary takes you).

Because I booked an ocean-view room, I was able to look out over the front of the ship from a window above my bed.

We always try to stay one deck down from the pool deck for easy access during the days. On this ship that separates you greatly from Decks 4/5/6 and the Promenade, Dining Rooms and Boardwalk. Thankfully we only had to walk up to 14 from 5 a couple times, which isn’t as bad as it might sound. Like other ships, Oasis of the Seas has both complimentary dining venues and specialty restaurants. While there’s no need to spend extra to dine at specialty restaurants, many guests prefer the ambiance and cuisine offered at these venues. However, there are more than enough complimentary options to keep you satisfied throughout any Oasis of the Seas cruise.

But there is Park Café, serving lighter fare like muffins, croissants, fruit, and the like. We’d suggest grabbing something here and then finding a table in the park (there are a number around). Early in the morning it’s extremely calm and quiet in this part of the ship, making it a wonderful place to eat a relaxing breakfast.

There are currently four Oasis-class ships in Royal Caribbean’s fleet. Oasis of the Seas was the first Oasis-class ship, delivered in 2009 and at the time breaking records for passenger capacity. Allure of the Seas followed in 2010, along with Harmony of the Seas in 2016 and Symphony of the Seas in 2018. The fleet also includes Wonder of the Seas and the upcoming Utopia of the Seas. Within the Adventure Ocean program, children up to 12 are split into various age groups and programming is available nearly round-the-clock.

If you’re a light sleeper, the best cabins on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas are those on decks 10, 11 and 12. Despite its size and passenger capacity, Oasis of the Seas deck plans are well laid out and easy to navigate. And yet, Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas has been enthusiastically embraced as one of the cruise line's most beloved vessels, even more than a decade after its launch. At double occupancy, Oasis sails with 5,606 passengers, but during the busiest seasons there can be nearly 6,700 people onboard.

Instead of going through the Middle East, the MSC ships will sail with no passengers on board and go around Africa. Instead of sailing through the Middle East, Serenade of the Seas will transit Africa and offer its guests an immersive tour of the continent. The 42-day route will visit a number of countries around Africa, including the Seychelles, South Africa, Namibia, Ghana, and Senegal.

This is likely just my Norwegian bias surfacing though, as I am used to the Garden Cafe being available for a snack whenever you want something. The Boardwalk is a cute little area and home to the Aqua Theatre and Johnny Rockets among other things. While the show at the Aqua Theatre wasn’t all that impressive, the venue is very nice and in my opinion should be utilized more often. Our sailing was over American Thanksgiving when several football games are televised.

Major Differences Between Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL)

While there are some people who aren’t fans of the size of the Oasis-class ships, our view is the complete opposite. It looks like an ordinary bar, but as you enjoy your drink, the entire platform that it is on rises up several decks like a huge elevator. You can choose to get off in Central Park, or complete the ride back down.

Symphony of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas aren't the only two ships I've had the privilege of sailing on more than once. In fact, I've actually been on Freedom three times, with my first sailing taking place back in 2010 with my parents and younger sister. Those cruising to Alaska will find that each port has numerous different activities to appeal to a wide range of travelers, including whale-watching tours, seafood feasts, helicopter rides, and more.

Perhaps you're going on a European cruise onboard Carnival Legend in 2024. You shouldn't be dissuaded from booking a cruise on the same ship to Alaska in 2025. For those looking to book a cruise on a ship they've already sailed on before, here are some tips to make sure that you have distinct experiences. So those are my thoughts after a week onboard Oasis of the Seas. I’m sure I missed plenty that I will think of as soon as this goes up. If there is something else you would like to know about specifically, please let me know and I’ll do my best to answer.

And if you’re interested, then definitely order up a drink and check it out. It’s not likely the sort of place where you’ll sit and have a few drinks like you would at a pool bar. The Solarium Is a Can’t MissGiven its location at the front of the ship, the Solarium isn’t hard to find. Since it’s at the front, you don’t have to go by it to get anywhere else. It’s one of our favorite spots on the ship if you’re looking to get away and have some quiet time to just relax.
